New Graphics Card?

Well, it would appear my current graphics card is on it's way out: Radeon HD 6970 - Keeps crashing :(

So, I'm looking at getting a new replacement card. Keen to keep the cost <$600

The cards I've been looking at are:
GTX 780 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... &vk_sort=1
Radeon R9 290 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... &vk_sort=1
GTX 770 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... &vk_sort=1

All of those are a fair bit better than my current one, but I'm not sure what to go for! Apart from the crashing my current one can run all the games I play quite well, but in terms of future proofing I'm not sure if it's worth spending the extra $ for a 780/R9 290 over a 770

770 vs 780: http://www.hwcompare.com/14625/geforce- ... e-gtx-780/

780 vs R9 290: http://www.hwcompare.com/16200/geforce- ... on-r9-290/

Re: New Graphics Card?

I mean all are good cards really. Its all about how much money you're willing to spend and what the rest of your PC is. My new PC that i just built has a Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC 4GB it is fantastic ( see Millvos Rig) . And the upgrade for an extra $100 (i think) really doesnt have that much a difference. I would say go the 290, but that is just personal Preference.

Thanks. From what others have also been saying, seems that the R9 290 is the way to go.

Re: New Graphics Card?

For now at that price range the radeons would be the way to go. Depends how "future proof" you want your computer - you could always go for a 780 which will last you for a while. But at the moment for the $$ range, the radeon seems to be the way to go.

It's not an optical illusion. It just looks like one.
