Solid specs. If you're going for a liquid cooling I'm guessing you're planning to do some overclocking. I'm not 100% about this but I believe the i7 2600K has much more headroom for overclocking than the ivy bridge 3770K...

Re: Nova's Rig *to be*

Yeah i'm hoping to overclock a little. The only reason i'm not sure about which CPU to go with is whether the 'spec' increase with the 3770k compared to heat addition and overclocking headroom is worth it, or whether overclocking the 2600k will give you the same, if not better specs. And i would rather run cooler anyway....

Looks like the 3770K runs a bit hotter than I would've expected, have a look at this write up:

Don't get razer keyboard, never met someone who needs 16gb of ram, hyper212 is cheaper and better, and 3 monitors is a waste get 2. 2600k is better and I don't think you'll be needing a Bly ray drive.

Re: Nova's Rig *to be*

sheesh.....thats a sucky temp level. :S

and i have a razer keyboard at the moment. Nothing wrong with it. I have tried the blackwidow and i like it.

The point of getting 16gb is so that i dont have to upgrade so quickly.

I have a hyper 212 at the moment on this PC and the reviews say that the h80 is better. Plus it takes up less case room.

3 monitors isnt a waste for what i use it for :3 at the moment i struggle to fit everything onto to. :)

Toothpaste you are the last person in this clan that gets to suggest someone should be more thrifty with their rig specs.

If you've never met someone who needs 16gb of RAM, you've never met anyone with an actual production system. Running running a few virtual machines off your box, that'll put some of your 16gb to use :P

On another note, the guy I share an office with has a 3 monitor array on his desk, turns a normal desk into a command centre, it's awesome. :D
